Hidden Mysteries Week - via Dan Brown and The Lost SymbolThis week, we are exploring Dan Brown’s hidden formula for wealth (as interpreted by me) in his Best Selling book The Lost Symbol (you can read yesterday’s post to get caught up).

Yesterday, we explored the progression we uncovered that says: P→P→P→W

Today we’ll consider that the hidden formula is actually closer to P+P+P=W

Although, I think the real fun comes tomorrow!

Instead of the very linear, and obvious progression that we could glean from Peter Solomon’s wise words to his son, Zachary, as he passes along the family fortune – let’s look into something a little deeper. Something that resembles the concept of SYNERGY – when the outcome is greater than the sum of its parts.

So, in this formula, when I combine Productivity, Prosperity, and Philanthropy, they become Wealth – greater than the sum of its parts. Each one inextricable from the equation.

A tad ho-hum? Perhaps. But, we’ll finish with the punch line tomorrow. Can you see it?

In the meantime, I’m going to go work on the Productivity part of the equation. What IS it about summertime?

Leaving a LegacyAs I write the book – The Irreverent Sales Girl’s Guide To Wild Success – I find myself a little un-done by how arrogant it is for me to take this on.

After all, I am no Hemingway

I find myself humbled by REAL authors, and want to throw in the towel.

But, then someone reminded me…

The book is not about me, it is not FOR me, it is FOR all the people who have given me so much…invested in me to make me great. It would be a shame not to offer that to the world.

So, if only one person reads the book (me), it will be an honor to give it back.

“How to be the best version of you…” SERIOUSLY???

"How to be the best version of yourself" SERIOUSLY???Alright, my lovelies, I must prepare you for a rant.

The title of my blog post tonight was the subject line of an email I got today.

I AM SICK OF IT

Yes. We all need to invest a bit from time-to-time in ourselves. But, PLEASE…how many people are trying to sell me stuff about being the best version of me? Promises unkept. Time wasted. Money thrown down the tubes.

Please remember who you REALLY are…

You don’t need someone’s “warmed-over-porridge” advice about how to do common sense things to make your life work.

You know if you’re doing the right things. You know when you aren’t. And you also know how to ask, in your darkest hours, for the things you desire. Don’t give them away to posers.

Inside, you know your calling and your purpose

Follow that! Be brave enough to follow that and stop being distracted by thinking others know more than you about how your life is to play out.

I am taking my own advice tonight

I have three things to do this year in my business:

1) Close my quota
2) Write my book
3) Earn my income goal

That is all

I may win, lose, or draw, but I will not be distracted by people trying to tell me how to be the “best version of me”. How would they know?

Did anyone know how to tell Madonna, Michael Jordan, or Lincoln (as examples) how to be the Best Version of Them? I guarantee they would have gotten it wrong.

Go boldly forth …

and be exactly who you know you are called to be.

If you're not getting better, you're getting worse! Sadly, as much as we’d like to believe it….there is no such thing as STATUS QUO.

You are either improving, or you are not keeping up!

Make getting better a fun game, play it like a kid on the playground. It’s a game, but play it like your life depends on it! That’s where the miracles open up.

Geez, Oh PEET! What a panic!

What a Panic! I had a GREAT BIG call today with one of the Elephants I am tracking.

We seem to be getting so close, yet we are HEAD-TO-HEAD with a fierce and competent competitor.

It’s all I’ve been able to think about lately.

I’ve been getting ATTACHED. 

I realized this during my workout today. Here I am enjoying a nice peaceful morning on the Elliptical and all I can think about is this PANIC I am having about landing this elephant.

Ridiculous.

And then, I thought, “What Would the Irreverent Sales Girl Do?”

And, it came to me. She would

1) Relax – all the prep is done, the meeting is prepared, all the right people are attending
2) Realize that I am offering the best solution (I really am)
3) Trust that they are smart and capable of getting what they need and not being bamboozled by me or others
4) Remember to focus not only on the elephant, but also on all the great business that is trying to close
5) Remember that if I do not close this deal, it doesn’t mean I can’t reach my highest goals – it is all working in my favor
5) BREATHE – and enjoy the exercise

I went into the meeting calm, in control, committed, professional. I let THEM talk.

They said all the right things. They even said “wow” a couple of times. I could hear their heads nodding.

They make their decision on Tuesday

It will be us or it will be them. Either way I am going to CRUSH it this year. Because that is what I am committed to. This deal is one of many.

Are you more important?Who do you measure yourself against?

How are you measuring up?

I invite you, for one moment, to take stock of the people who value you as important.

The world “seems” to say that if you are vastly wealthy and famous, that you are more important (I am NOT saying that you shouldn’t be vastly wealthy and famous – you should if you want to be!)

What I am saying is – It is possible that you haven’t taken stock of who you REALLY are. For yourself, for your peeps, for the world.

There lies GREAT value in the person who likes to sit behind the scenes and listen. The engineer who builds the bridge and never has his name engraved on it – he/she holds great value to all who pass.

YOU are important if you care. Even if you care about the fact that you aren’t doing enough – It is a signal to you that you ARE important (right?)

You are here to carve out your place in the world. You may not realize it, but EVERYONE who sees you let someone in to a traffic jam, who watches you give a dollar to someone who needs it, sees you pick up a piece of litter in a bathroom…IT MATTERS.

If you want to achieve INVALUABLE wealth in this world, keep giving, every chance you get. It is noticed.

And, you will be famous among those who matter. And you will enjoy immeasurable wealth.

1) EVERY TIME I am talking with a prospect or a client, I am looking to see who I can connect them with in their industry or their town. Somone who I know and would make a difference for the person on the other end of the phone. I become a connector, a thought leader, and a valuable resource.

2) EVERY TIME I am talking with a prospect or a client I am reminding myself: I AM ON A MISSION TO SERVE OTHERS.

3) EVERY TIME I am talking with a prospect or client, I ask “Who do you know that I should be talking to?” “Who do you know who can use my help?” (And then I be quiet. I wait for their response).
