Didja ever notice the jealousy running? The way you pretend you’re happy for someone else, but you really wish you’d gotten what they got instead?

It’s just because you don’t know how to get it for yourself — YET!!!!

There is plenty to go around for those who are willing to be a real resource to others and create REAL value in the world.

If you find you’re jealous, let your jealousy INFORM YOU!!! You want THAT, but how badly? Badly enough to MODEL them?

Better yet, hire them!!!

The riches and love of the world ARE available to you. People who are petty and small will get petty and small results.

People who push their boundaries, scare the hell out of themselves, ask for things they “have no right to ask for”, work with people who are better than them, COMPETE against people who are better than them (gracefully) ….. those are the people who get what they’re after and more!

When I look at my goals and my promises….it seems like I will have no way of ever keeping my disciplines in place. The budget, the nutrition plan, the investment plan, the number of calls I will make.

When I look at the people I have to call on next and the risks I have to take with my business – when I simply don’t know HOW I will do it.

My jaw clenches up, my knuckles go white on the steering wheel, my stomach churns, my tongue gets glued to the ceiling of my mouth.

And then I say, “Pass” and think the new thoughts that need to be thunk. As Henry Ford said, “Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, either way you’re right.”

Who’s right and who’s wrong in the classic time-share sales model? You know the one I’m talking about. The time-share company invites you to come down on a “vacation” that is completely paid for – in exchange for you listening to an hour “pitch”.

So, you go.

Then you complain that you were subjected to a “high-pressure” sales pitch – maybe you even bought something – something you may even regret.

I ask you, “What did you expect?”

If you’re willing to present yourself as a prospective buyer – which you have by taking the offer of being in a one-hour sales presentation – why aren’t you willing to be responsible for your own experience of the sales pitch?

Reading this article about the six Jedi tricks that salespeople use to hoodwink you, I found myself in a quandary. Can I post this? Should I? (Please forgive the occasional profanity – not really my style).

Well, it’s clear to me that salespeople still aren’t a very trusted bunch!

Interestingly enough, I didn’t know these techniques even existed. Maybe it’s not true that all sales professionals have thought this stuff through. Maybe it is. Probably about 1% of salespeople are and just giving the rest of us a bad name!

But, buyers can take some responsibility, too! If you learn what triggers you to make decisions that aren’t consistent with your values, your needs, your budget or your research…….you, too, can bring a dash of dignity to the art of selling.
